Texas ranked 49th in the Annual Case for Inclusion Report which ranks all 50 States and the District of Columbia on how well they are providing community-based supports to Americans with intellectual and developmental disabilities being served by Medicaid.

There are over 100,00 people waiting for community-based Medicaid Waiver Supports and Services while their name remains on an "interest list". For updates regarding the interest lists, please refer to the Interest List Reduction Summary

What is a Medicaid Waiver Program?

Medicaid Wavier Programs fund services that help people (of all ages) who have a disability, blindness, or who are aging, live in the community instead of an institutional setting. Within each program you will find different eligibility requirements, rules, service options, and funding amounts.

When you call to access services in Texas you will learn of an “interest list", known by families and individuals who have a disability as actually being a “waiting list". The list varies in length depending on the Waiver Program. The wait for services is approximately 7-9 years in length. Don’t wait – call today!
