ACTION: Sign and Share

In case you did not see September’s issue of the Texas Talk, we want advocates to send a letter to their State Representatives and Senators asking them to reform Texas’ state supported living center (SSLC) system. We know that reform is necessary to ensure ALL Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities, regardless of where they live, have access to safe and high-quality services. Reforming our obsolete SSLC system will help achieve this goal. Click HERE so send a letter today!

We are only 4 months from the 85th Legislative session and the legislators NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU ABOUT SSLC REFORM before session begins next January. Here are ways to help spread the word:

  1. Join your fellow advocates and sign the letter (it only takes 30 seconds).
  2. Share the link widely with your networks asking them to also sign. The more people that send a letter, the more our legislators will know that we are serious about SSLC reform!
  3. Share The Arc of Texas’ facebook post, or create your own to help spread the word and get your social media followers involved. Feel free to post it more than once, the letter will be available to send for a month.

As always, thank you for your advocacy. SSLC reform and improved access to quality community-based services is not possible without your voice.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely,

Kyle Piccola
